From September 2 to 5, 2026, ISABELLE.C participated in Hong Kong CENTRESTAGE, the Asia’s Fashion Spotlight for the second consecutive year. Through a physical booth and the fashion show on September 5, the brand extended its “ART IS FASHION” philosophy between the exhibition and the runway.

At the booth, art and craftsmanship could be seen and touched; on the runway, fabrics, colours and bodies flowed with every step. From Gambiered Canton Silk to Kesi tapestry, from artists’ canvases to the textures of garments, ISABELLE.C takes “Aquatic Myriad Forms” as its inspiration, exploring how heritage flows in the contemporary world, how art enters everyday life, and how culture continues endlessly through each act of creation and wearing.

PART 1 A WORLD OF ENCOUNTERS | Brand Exhibition

During CENTRESTAGE, ISABELLE.C created a “touchable art space” at its booth, where intangible cultural heritage crafts such as  Gambiered Canton Silk and Kesi tapestry became materials that could be experienced up close. The brand’s signature collections and new works also converged here—from artistic printing and dyeing to contemporary tailoring, from traditional weaving to wearable art—presenting ISABELLE.C’s ongoing practice of “ART IS FASHION”.

PART 2 MINI-PARADE FASHION SHOW | Aquatic Myriad Forms

Aquatic myriad forms begin with movement. For ISABELLE.C, fashion is also a moving vessel—carrying art as well as culture; carrying the past while leading toward the future.

On September 5, ISABELLE.C presented the “Aquatic Myriad Forms” fashion show at CENTRESTAGE 2026. From paintings on  Gambiered Canton Silk, to the warp and weft of Kesi tapestry, to the renewed encounter between artistic imagery and garments, the presentation formed a flowing narrative jointly generated by heritage, art and contemporary fashion. Where water reaches, myriad forms grow.

ART IN MOTION

As an important creative thread in ISABELLE.C’s brand DNA, the brand uses intangible cultural heritage silk fabrics such as  Gambiered Canton Silk as canvases, integrating paintings by Hong Kong artists and award-winning original works by emerging young artists into silk materials with an Oriental sensibility, including Gambiered Canton Silk, through innovative printing and dyeing techniques.

Like water, paintings flow beyond their frames and permeate the sleeves. From this moment, art gains body warmth, footsteps, and a posture that moves with the body and the wind. Here, “ART IS FASHION” is no longer merely a concept—art is not an embellishment of clothing, but the clothing itself.

VERSE TIDE

The VERSE TIDE collection draws on two artworks inspired by “water”, transforming water’s flow, reflections and vitality into colours and imagery on garments.

Handmade bespoke womenswear and children’s suit share the same source in water, yet are expressed through different cuts and languages of the body. Water has no fixed form, and art need not be confined to the frame; when paintings are printed and dyed onto garments, still images begin to flow with the wearer’s movement. Water flows into poetry, and art thus travels among bodies.

VERSE GAMBIERED

The Classic Series Artistic Printing and Dyeing Collection

incorporates two original works by emerging Hong Kong artists—Isaac Chen’s In the Lone Starlight and Isabelle Chen’s In the First Light—into intangible cultural heritage  Gambiered Canton Silk through innovative printing and dyeing techniques, transforming art into wearable creations.

The Series were invited to participate in a collateral exhibition of the 61st Venice Biennale. The same artwork is not confined to a single silhouette, but is continuously reconstructed across different fashion pieces—different patterns, cuts and body languages allow the same painting to take on new appearances again and again.

A  Gambiered Canton Silk dress from the same collection was also specially exhibited at the CENTRESTAGE 2026 “Hong Kong Young Designers Showcase Pavilion”, allowing Oriental artistic printing and dyeing to unfold a new dialogue once again on the Asian fashion stage.

VERSE STEED

This collection uses artworks by ink artist Mr. Zhao Zhijing (formerly Zhao Zhijun)—Chairman of Visual Arts at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Executive Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Artists Association, and member of the China Artists Association—as well as artistic creations by emerging artists Isaac Chen and Isabelle Chen, once again transforming them into patterns and colours on garments.

Art from different eras and perspectives meets within the same garment. Past and present, tradition and contemporaneity do not replace one another; instead, they nourish each other and grow together in the flow of time. Just as water nourishes all things, culture continues endlessly through being constantly understood and created anew.

WOVEN THROUGH TIME

If Gambiered Canton Silk allows art to flow across the body of a garment, Kesi tapestry allows time to crystallise between warp and weft. A single silk thread traverses a thousand years; each warp and weft records the passage of time.

With three handmade bespoke Kesi tapestry works, ISABELLE.C allows ancient weaving to grow anew in contemporary fashion. Different materials, light and shadow, and artistic languages form new visual life through the interlacing of warp and weft.

A handmade short skirt in gold-foil-backed Kesi tapestry uses brilliant gold as its foundation, with flowers, birds and green leaves woven in layered Kesi using the “through-warp, discontinuous-weft” technique. Golden light and delicate silk threads flow together, resembling Oriental floral shadows quietly blooming amid golden strands.

Another handmade Kesi tapestry dress presents layered Oriental patterns through intricate weaving. The central Kesi fabric complements a light, sheer purple outer layer, flowing gently with each step and creating a soft yet vivid dialogue between classical weaving and modern silhouettes.

Water is formless, yet it can carry myriad forms. For ISABELLE.C, culture is the same—only through movement can it travel farther; only through continuous reinterpretation and creation can it truly move toward the future. ART IS FASHION is not a slogan, but ISABELLE.C’s ongoing creative direction: beginning with art, rooted in culture, and continuously moving toward the contemporary.

During CENTRESTAGE, Sam Pan Factory visited the ISABELLE.C brand booth and conducted an on-site interview with the brand and its founder, Ms. Xiong Jiawen. From the founding of the brand and its design philosophy to the contemporary expression of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, the interview explored ISABELLE.C’s brand journey of “rooted in intangible cultural heritage, inspired by Hong Kong”—allowing Oriental art and traditional craftsmanship to take on new life within the language of contemporary fashion.

An exhibition and a show are brought to life by the works, and made complete through encounters between people. We sincerely thank every guest, industry partner, media friend and every supporter who visited the ISABELLE.C booth or attended the brand show during CENTRESTAGE. Thank you once again for being here.

Starting from Hong Kong, ISABELLE.C continues toward broader stages. Following CENTRESTAGE, the brand appeared at New York China Institute of America Fashion Week and will be invited to participate in Qingdao Fashion Week 2026 this October. Brand founder Ms. Camille Xiong Jiawen will lead ISABELLE.C to Qingdao, where the brand will exchange ideas with “Zhuo Jiaren” and more fashion forces.

We look forward to meeting more fellow travellers on the next journey.
